QUESTIONS and ANSWERS:
Answers to questions and comments will be posted here. Keep checking back for updates and availability of products.
Alcohol:
Does the alcohol % lower in volume as the head space increases? Alcohol dose evaporate at a faster rate than water. However in wine the hydrogen atom in the alcohol (C2H5OH) unites with the hydrogen atom in the water (H2O). This prevents the alcohol from escaping, thus the % remains the same.
Customs:
How are import fees handled?
Any additional fees or duties will be paid by the end user in the country of destination.
Installation:
Installation instructions will be provided by email and included in the shipping. The units are attached to a track which allows them to be adjusted for the proper spacing. All racks are cut to order. They can be attached to the wall, on the ends and also overhead.
Is there an instruction manual?
It is in progress and will be available before orders are accepted.
Can you please email us the photo of the ‘3 unit model’ so that we can develop our own promotional leaflet to get out to our Market?
Yes. Any information on the site can be copied also. Let us know if any problems occur.
Locater:
Call for a distributor in your area to place an order. Only wine bags and wine making supplies will be sold from this site through PayPal. Call to become a distributor and inquire about availability. 1-407-721-5400
Metering:
On the control side, have you got anything currently (or put thought or design into) for the metering/measurement of each wine, along with centralizing/networking the setup to allow for instant reporting and allow for easier re-ordering from supplier?
We have looked into that possibility. It would be easy for us to adapt the Berg multi-beverage system into our dispenser. www.barbeveragecontrols.com The only hurtle is the cost. It would nearly double our prices. It not only serves by measurement but also tracks.
New accessories:
Internal power cleaning bit. It will work with any 3/8” variable speed drill. This may not be needed if the wine is new and has no “dregs”. This is the method we use to clean the glass before shipping. (Spray bottle Pump spray Sulfite....)
Nitrogen:
Do you supply the nitrogen? A small demo nitrogen cylinder can be purchased and only shipped empty but not by air. We recommend a cylinder rental or purchase in your area. Only food grade (which means multiple purging) is recommended for our system. Here is a link Nitro-Draught system for those who want to produce their own:
www.fizzdog.com The gas supplier we recommend is:
www.airgasnationalcarbonation.com
Is the supply of the Nitrogen connected to each of the units, or do the 3 units interconnect themselves, and then there is one feed in for the Nitrogen gas.?
A manifold on the regulator splits the supply to each unit.
Parts and repair:
What parts and accessories are included with the 3 unit model; what extra Gauges, what size and type of Cylinder, etc..?
We will post a picture of the items soon. They are included when purchasing 3 units or more. The gas cylinder is not included in this offer.
In all fairness, what can you see going wrong with these units, that may require repair and maintenance?
Our new Global has eliminated the need for maintenance. Cleaning and keeping the inside sterile are main concerns. The glass is much safer to handle now because it is permanently attached and dose not have to be removed. There is a small alarm which can be turned off. This indicates the cooling water is low. They can be topped up with distilled water on the top.
Dose the cooling Peltier model break-down after a period of time?
It is not a mechanical part which wears out. Its only weakness is a power surge. The best surge protection is the old fashion fast burn fuse. We provide an extra one with each unit. A surge also would have to go through the power supply first. If lightning hits, it can easily be replaced. Most are set up to cycle on and off in milliseconds to maintain a temperature setting. This is not good for them. If they are selected in the correct wattage they can run continuous indefinitely.
Can there be problems with the electronics?
We use very little electronics. What we use can be easily replaced. The cooling pumps and magnetic fans are designed to run continuous for 37,000 hours and possibly twice that. In the future we will consider a reconditioned unit. That will all be based on the life expectancy which is yet undetermined.
What mechanical failures could occur?
We are testing on a continual bases to find failures. They will be posted if any are discovered.
Parts could break and then need replacing, ie. Glass globes.??
We use an electronic thickness tester on the glass in order to find any defects before they are sent out. If they survive the shipping they will continue to provide an excellent O2 barrier. We cannot warranty abuse. At present if a glass globe is broken - it must be sent back for a replacement. The shipment would be insured to cover shipping damage. The glass must be bonded to the unit for cold transfer and it is not easily replaced. A new unit would have be sent. There are safety features built into the design to protect from over pressure.
Could we have a list of common parts that may need to be replaced, and their current costs?
Any will be made available if needed. Currently none have been determined.
Do they
handle sediment in wine, and other such things?
The wine would not have to be filtered if it is clarified properly. An unfiltered wine (depending on the temperature) could last 2 to 4 weeks before the proteins drop out. The drags in wine come from the tannins and pigment from the skins. It takes a long time for these to drop out. We recommend the newest wine available. The needed aging is usually done by the wine maker before releasing it. Defiantly do not use old wine with drags. The nitrogen bubbles will keep it stirred up. Any sediment collected on side of the glass can easily be rinsed out with the accessories mentioned in that category.
Power requirements:
Please confirm that the power supply will suit the New Zealand conditions; ie. Single phase, 230/240, 50 Hz.?
There is a setting on each unit for both 120v and 230v. The plug end required must be ordered when placing an order.
Protection:
As I have said to you over the phone, I am very keen to get stuck in and develop a long term and worthwhile Market for you and your ‘Global Dispenser’; but to do so, I have to develop a Marketing and business strategy, which will allow me to be optimal about naming your Company as the manufacturer, but protecting me from people who will want to try and deal direct.! Starting any Marketing campaign is always very hard, and even more so today due to the current Economic down-turn and financial crises, but it becomes unworkable when lines of contact and communication are not clearly known and defined. I would therefore ask to have Sales and Marketing protection for the areas of : (a) New Zealand, (b) South Pacific Islands (Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, Samoa, Tahiti, etc. as these are all Tourist destinations with Hotel chains), and also (c) Australia. Please let me have your thoughts on this matter.? Everything is based on a “first come - first serve bases” and on a distributors ability to care for the potential area of interest. Any new distributor will be added in the contact page. It is not our intention to sell direct to end users. We are in need of more sales reps for the US and Canada. No discounts will be offered to end users by this company.
Shipping:
Can you please advise and confirm the shipping weight and dimensions for the 3 unit model?
The estimated weight for 3 units is approximately 240 US pounds and 80 per box. The exact weight with the container will be sent by email before shopping. The final weight will change a little depending on the configuration ordered.
Who pays for the shipping? We will arrange and search for the best shipping rates to your location. You may specify which method of shipping you prefer and your payment choice. Any returns are paid for by the end user. All new parts or any replacement units are paid by the manufacturer up to one year.
Temperature:
Please would you confirm, in Celsius temperature if possible, what the expected Wine temperature will be on being dispensed from the Tap?
Our target temperature for the reds will be 57 to 68 degrees (20c) and 45 to 52 degrees (7 to 11c) for the white and sweet reds. All temperatures will be based on an ambient room temperature of 80 degrees (26c). The temperatures in the locations for the dispenser are usually higher than the normal AC settings. Currently the temperatures for the reds have been verified. The temperatures for the whites will be released soon. Note: each unit has one temperature setting. Example: 4 reds are used in one unit. 4 whites would have to be used in another unit and so on.
As for the cooling module, please could you advise on the following; does the ‘cooling or chilling’ of the Wine, only take place as the Wine is poured through the dispensing Tap, or does the cooling/chilling take place in the glass Globe holding the wine?
The wine could be chilled through a glycol chiller; however, we have chosen to keep the wine undisturbed in glass. We chill the glass at a constant temperature. (Cold sinks to the bottom until liquid reaches freezing and then it turns over making the cold expand and rise forming ice on the top.) Wine falls into just the right temperature to keep most of the cold on the bottom and from rising.
